Zoe Saldana is the child of Asalia Saldana and Aridio Nazario. Zoe was born in Passaic (New Jersey) on 19th June 1978. Her father is Dominican as is her mother Puerto Rican. She was raised by her mother in Queens. When she was 10 years old, she and her parents moved to Dominican Republic. They lived in the Dominican Republic for seven more years. Zoe's passion for dance was ignited when they were living in the Dominican Republic. Zoe started her dance education with ECOS Espacio de Danza Dance Academy. The lessons she learned were not just a wonderful way to exercise an eager child, but was also the best preparation for her eventual career as a professional actor. Zoe relocated with her family to the United States at age 17 when she began to develop an enthusiasm for dance. And it was also there that her passion for theater shows grew.
