Kim Delaney is an American actress who is best known for playing detective Diane Russell in ABCs series NYPD Blue for which she won an Emmy Award. She is also known for her performances in the drama series All My Children Philly CSI: Miami and Army Wives. Born as the only daughter of a high-ranking executive in the United Auto Workers and a homemaker Delaney had a family of four brothers. While she was a small girl, Delaney hoped to become a reporter for the court. But in highschool the time came when she began modeling commercials, she moved to New York. In 1981, she starred as a naive teen in All My Children. Delaney is well-known as an actor who has appeared in many films, television shows, and dramas. Her career as a professional has been better than her personal life. There were two unsuccessful marriages and struggled with alcohol addiction. She lost custody of her son in 2005.
