Selena

She broke down the walls of the music industry in her roles as a performer, singer and designer. Her ethnicity was Mexican American, however she was she was also a traditional. She brought Tejano into mainstream music. Her untimely death splintered her growing popularity and, it is what happens often when a glowing, charming star dies far too young has left many mourning every potential that was not fully realized. Through the years, her people were motivated to do their best to make sure that Selena's successes would not fade away. The death of Selena triggered an emotional response within the Latino culture that can be similar in a way to Elvis Presley, and John Lennon. Selena was a hugely loved singer by Latinos throughout North America. But her music was a hit with both the young and the old. Selena has been called by certain people as an Latina Madonna, but she's still an excellent role model. Selena's family values off stage and involvement in AIDS awareness efforts provide a great example.
